"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." - Romans 5:8
This morning during my quiet time, I was suddenly touched by God’s love for us. I have thanked Him so often that I have the opportunity and the honor to love Him because He loved me first, but when I thanked Him for that again this morning, that realization sank in just a little deeper.
Even before you and I were born, He already loved us, now let that sink in!
His love goes so much deeper, is so much more steadfast, and is totally unparalleled than the love we humans know.
Romans 5:8 reminds us that God did not wait until we were worthy, disciplined, or perfect before He loved us. His love was not a reaction to our performance.
It was a decision rooted in His character.
He loved us first.
He loved us completely.
He loved us sacrificially.
Before we ever pursued or knew Him, He was already pursuing us! Before we ever changed, He made a way for our transformation.
The cross is the clearest proof that God’s love is not based on feelings or circumstances; it is a covenant, dedication, and grace.
Human love can be beautiful, but is often limited by emotion, circumstances, or reciprocity. God’s love is different. It is constant even when we are inconsistent. It is patient as we grow. It is safe when everything around them feels uncertain.
This is the love that anchors identity, stabilizes the heart, and gives meaning to every other form of love we experience.
Ask God today if He wants to show you how much He loves you; He is happy to show it to you!
