So much is happening in the world, there is so much suffering, pain, sadness and misery, and perhaps you also experience this in your own life. The world as we experience it now has not always been this way, in the beginning it was very good, until things went wrong with Adam and Eve. I’ll skip that whole miserable story for now and fast-forward to the good news, because amid all the misery we see around us, there is still good news!

The Good News of the Gospel! But what exactly does that mean?

Imagine yourself in court for a moment. You drove way too fast and may be taken to task to explain why you felt it necessary to speed along the highway at 200 km per hour. You try in the best possible ways to piece together some story to get out of your sentence… too bad, the judge doesn’t fall for it and sentences you to a huge fine that you cannot possibly pay!

Failure to pay means surrendering your driver’s license and imprison.

Then suddenly, out of nowhere, Someone stands up, walks to the judge and says that He is going to pay your fine! The judge agrees, the fine is paid, and you go free! Well, that’s well arranged, you easily got rid of it.

Just as the guilty person, in my example, stands before the judge in court, so we, without Jesus, also stand before God.

At the end of our lives, we will stand in that court before God and we will have to answer for ourselves. Unfortunately, without Jesus, we will not escape our punishment. Jesus is the only One who can pay that gigantic fine because He is the only One who is right with God.

We sometimes think: “Oh well, I’m a good person, that’s what matters. I do no harm to anyone, I am kind to my parents and neighbors” etc., but God’s standard of “good” is completely different from our standard of “good”.

That is also why God gave the Ten Commandments, to show us that our standard of “good” will not get us into heaven and that we need a Savior. Someone to pay our fine.

Let's take a "test"

1. Have you ever lied?

2. Have you ever stolen something?

3. Have you ever looked at a man/woman with lust?

Jesus said: “But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” (Matthew 5:28).

You, like the rest of the world’s population, probably answered “Yes” to every question.

According to the Ten Commandments, and therefore God’s standard of “good”, you are in God’s eyes a lying, stealing thief and adulterer at heart. Welcome to the club #sad.

So, we have all broken God’s law when we look at the Ten Commandments. The penalty for violating this law is death. And that doesn’t mean you drop dead on the spot, but it means spiritual death; separated from God. This is the state we are all in unless we accept Jesus. Not because God wants it that way or because He is some barbarian, but because He is Holy, we simply cannot come into His Holy presence in this state. We have been giving a free will, and we can choose to continue walking this way troughout our lives until we ultimately stand in that court before God.

When we choose to live a life here on earth in the absence of God, sadly, this will automatically mean; eternity in the absence of God. God’s presence is in heaven, when you had chosen a life without God you are not allowed to enter there… three guesses where you will have to spend your eternity ☹.

Now, I hear you thinking: “Great story, Sandra, but I thought it this was about good news!”

It is! Since you are reading this, it seems very likely to me that you are still alive, LOL, and therefore you still have a choice!

The good news is, Jesus is our advocate in the story! He will plead for you before God, and He will pay your penalty. In fact; He already paid your fine! 2000 years ago, on the cross of Golgotha, He paid you and my outstanding fine that we cannot possibly pay ourselves.

He bridged the gap between people and God. As He Himself also says, He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6).

It is a gift He has made for all of us simply because He loves us and not because we are good, but because He is good.

All we have to do is accept it. Just like any other gift, you have to be willing to accept it yourself. He won’t shove it down your throat….

You accept this gift by opening your heart and your life and saying “yes” to Jesus. He will never force Himself on you, but He stands at everyone’s door and knocks (Revelation 3:20), waiting for you to open it.

I assure you; it is the most beautiful gift you will ever receive! Thanks to Jesus we have access to God and a life with Him is the most beautiful, and adventurous thing you can imagine! In Him there is complete freedom in all possible ways, and you are assured that you can spend eternity with Him.

I once read a beautiful comparison with the eagle.

When a storm arises, the eagle uses the wind of the storm to soar above the clouds. There, where it is calm and quiet, he will float and rest his wings. bird, eagle, ornithology-7827680.jpg

This is how life is when you choose Jesus. On His wings, His blessings and promises, may you rise above the storm in every circumstance. Flying to calmer heights!

Do you also want to get to know Jesus and invite Him into your life? Open your heart, and say this to Him:

“Lord Jesus, come into my heart. Come into my life. I acknowledge You as the Son of God, and I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and that You rose again on the third day. Forgive me for my sins, I want to know You as Lord of my life and Savior of my soul. Thank you, Jesus!”.

If you have declared this with your mouth, and believe it in your heart, you are now saved (Romans10:9).

Now one more task remains. Find a local church or ministry where you can be baptized, that is extremely important (Acts 2:38).

Congratulations! Welcome to Gods Kingdom, and welcome to His family
