Building Without Applause: How to Keep Going When You See No Results

For over two and a half years, I was tirelessly busy doing what God placed on my heart.

Two and a half years had passed during which I noticed little to no growth; I sowed and sowed, putting all my time, love, and attention into it, but I had not yet reaped a real harvest. It began to gnaw at me; the enemy saw his opportunity and began sowing to his heart’s content, only this was not good seed, but seed of doubt, mainly. Was I really doing what God had asked me to do? Was it of any use at all? What was I actually doing? It wouldn’t achieve anything, and I wouldn’t contribute anything anyway; I had better stop.

When Doing the Right Thing Feels Tiring and Repetitive

"And let us not grow weary of doing good, for at the right time we will reap if we do not give up." - Galatians 6:9

It reminded me of Galatians 6:9

At the right moment, we will reap…

This is not spoken about very often: the long period in which you do the things God asked you to do, you keep showing up, and you remain disciplined even though you see no results. You see nothing happening, you see no growth, and you get no responses.

Doing the right thing can then sometimes feel tiring, a goal can sometimes feel repetitive, and even obedience can feel slow.

Time and time again, the same actions, the same patterns, or tasks without any visible growth can sometimes seem utterly useless.

Standing on the Promise of Galatians 6:9

But the promise of harvest in Galatians 6 is not immediate. It depends on endurance and perseverance. “At the right time” means there is a timeline, and unfortunately, that does not refer to our timeline, LOL.

The harvest is coming; that is a promise. But harvest comes only when we keep sowing long enough.

Many people stop doing what God put in their hearts not because they chose the wrong path, but because they stop too soon.

Deep Roots Before Fruit: Embracing the Invisible Growth

You will not always feel motivated. You will not always see progress from week to week. There will be days when it feels like nothing is changing, as if there is no growth or no breakthrough. But that does not mean that nothing is happening. Growth is often invisible before it becomes manifest and before we see fruit. Just think of a seed you sow. It will first take root and grow strong and deep underground, out of our sight, before we begin to see the visible part above the ground.

After for over two years of sowing without having seen any physical fruit, this began to sink in for me as well: God does not ask for my perfection; He asks for my perseverance. Will I keep showing up when it is quiet? To keep doing what He has asked me to do, even as long as it goes unnoticed? Will I continue building faithfully even when there is no applause?

The season in which you sow is not wasted; it is preparation.

And if you do not stop, it will yield a harvest.
