Months had slipped by, during which I somehow couldn’t seem to get a handle on my quiet time, my time with God. Completely consumed by the daily grind, my regularity and discipline had vanished like snow in the sun.

“Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” - Hebrews 13:5

I hadn’t managed to say more than a quick prayer, let alone sit at His feet to hear what He wanted to say to me or simply to find peace. I seemed to have lost my way and wondered how I could find my way back to Him. Not only that, but I knew in my head that God is near and will never leave me nor forsake me (Hebrews 13:5), yet, unconsciously, I had wormed myself onto a path of “work.” I tried to find my way back by taking on all sorts of tasks: serving more in church, watching more teachings, and reading more. Nothing wrong with that, of course, but I was imposing things on myself, only to ultimately discover that I was working FOR God more than WITH Him.

One morning I was fed up! And I cried out, “I need You! I want to come back to You, but I just don’t know how. HELP!”

That was enough for God to remind me of a lesson from my freshman year at Charis Bible College.

New Revelations

It was September 2023 when I started at Charis. That very first month, we were taught a module called “Life Foundations” by Mike and Carrie Picket.

Now, two years later, God reminded me of that module. I opened the module in my online learning environment and asked God which of the eight lessons I should watch. My eye fell on lesson two.

It turned out to be a completely new revelation, and I cried throughout the entire video lesson, LOL. The assignment from the lesson: ask God to show you how much He loves you.

He is a good Father and wants to show you all His love.

Not only did the video contain new revelations, but I also accepted the “challenge” and immediately asked God to show it to me. In no time, I was led to Psalm 21:1-8.

It is incredibly powerful to relate Bible verses to yourself; after all, the Bible is God’s love letter to us!

So I decided to read this Scripture in the first person. Well, a tsunami of tears followed, I can tell you, LOL. I also realized I hadn’t been as far from God as I thought. In the blink of an eye, I was back in touch with my Heavenly Father!

The enemy had planted all sorts of lies in my head that I:

  1. Was far from God.
  2. Had to perform all sorts of tasks to get back into His presence.

Lies from the pit of hell!

I want to encourage you with this: whenever you think you’re far from God. Or whenever you think you need to work your way back to Him, pause for a moment.

Breathe in and out, and turn around…and you’ll see that you’re looking directly into the loving face of your Heavenly Father!

Ask Him to show you how much He loves you.

He loves to show off. 😉

“The king rejoices in your strength, Lord. How great is his joy in the victories you give!

You have granted him his heart’s desire and have not withheld the request of his lips.

You came to greet him with rich blessings and placed a crown of pure gold on his head.

He asked you for life, and you gave it to him-length of days, for ever and ever.

Through the victories you gave, his glory is great; you have bestowed on him splendor and majesty.

Surely you have granted him unending blessings and made him glad with the joy of your presence.

For the king trusts in the Lord; through the unfailing love of the Most High he will not be shaken.

Your hand will lay hold on all your enemies; your right hand will seize your foes.”

– Psalms 21:1-8

Blessings!
